On 16th June, 2017 El-meela Heritage Support Foundation (EL-MHSF) commemorated the Day of the African Child with a public lecture at Comrade Olaitan Oyerinde Hall, Labour House, Abuja; on the theme accelerating protection, empowerment, and equal opportunities for children in africa by 2030. EL-MHSF's team in Kaduna also had a similar activity, where children were guided on their career paths. While in Suleja, a sensitization & awareness campaign was carried out among three schools namely Hassan Dallatu Secondary School, Halidu Adamu Nursey & Primary School, and Shuaibu Naibi Primary School. The Students were assembled and familiarized with the day, sensitized on the need to be of good conduct to really get on and realize their dream in the 21st century.

Relevant Stakeholders (Ministries of Women Affairs and Justice), NAPTIP, Human Rights Commission, The Nigeria Police Force, The Military and NGO's present at the event charged on the need for the collective effort to put all hands on deck to protect the child from all sorts of violence to actualize the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

From an entirely different perspective, Apostle Godspower Udjor of Champions Faith International Ministries lamented on the poor policy implementation by relevant stakeholders and called for a National Day of Prayer to protect our children as violence needs to be tackled spiritually.

The children were also not left behind as two 9-years gave a stand-out poems ( favour Okeke's- I am a Nigerian Child and Tarry Emeh's UN Convention on the rights of a child)

In the Panel discussion, the young professionals gave a ray of hope to the children. They all with different tunes advised the children to believe in their dreams, work hard, and not to be afraid so that one day, they can become accomplished adults.

EL-MHSF wishes to appreciate your various personalities of being part of this important event. Your contributions, presentations, and Good will messages had really added value to our cause. Looking ahead, our foundation will focus on a more technical approach to collectively realize the SDG's and make our world a better place.
